The sacrifice ritual of Chaite Dashain usually begins at 8 o' clock in the morning. To see what it really looks like, you can climb up to the balcony overlooking the Hanuman Dhoka Palace courtyard. While the entire ritual is performed in front of the military insignias and banners, its closing is marked by smearing each of those banners with the sacrificial blood by the commander.
