Place of event: The temple of Pashupatinath
Dressed in bright red clothes, married and single women visit Pashupatinath, the temple of Lord Shiva. Married women pray for all-good of their husbands while single ones wish to find the perfect life-partners. On this particular day, the temple of Pashupatinath and the entire surroundings are off-limits to male visitors.

The women, despite strictly fasting whole day, dance and sing special folklores. How do they get so much of energy? Perhaps from the special feast they managed to have the night before. Think about approaching a medium sized crowd and watching the celebrations from a safe distance.

Meet Rajendra Prasad Sapkota and Outdoor Himalayan Treks, your local connection in Kathmandu. Starting as a young porter, Rajendra has all the local knowledge that will make your trip to Kathmandu life changing. With us, visitors experience remote villages, meet local people, and gain insight into our culture. We support local villages, and have even built a local orphanage to house and educate displaced, and often outcast, children. We hope to bring you a journey that will be enriching, but will also help those in need in Kathmandu.
