Shiva Guest House 1Address: Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Bhaktapur view map
You know you rarely get the privilege of living at a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and that too, under the care of very cordial hosts who can please anyone with their traditional culinary skills. The hosts are local residents and know every street and corner of the old town. Having hosted guests from all over the world, including the crew of Little Buddha (a historical Hollywood movie), they are capable of catering to a diverse clientele.
For the first time ever, you can now book rooms in either of their two guesthouses. The original building (Shiva Guesthouse - 1) stands next to the 15th century Yaksheshwor Temple inside Bhaktapur Durbar Square, while the newer wing is a few minutes away, just outside the heritage site.
Rooms you find in the old building are not that spacious, but that only adds to your experience of living like most of the locals. With windows facing the architectural wonders of the medieval era, it is almost impossible to resist the distinct ambience.
The annex (Shiva Guesthouse -2) is also built in traditional architecture of Bhaktapur and furnished alike, providing more comfort. And walking to the Durbar Square takes less than 5 minutes.
