Karna Sakya

Karna Sakya, who founded Kathmandu Guest House in 1967, is a prominent figure among Nepalese environmentalists. He is committed to conservation of natural and cultural heritage of his homeland.

With his entrepreneurship and continued efforts, he has been able to extend KGH from a small guest house of 13 rooms to a reputed hotel with 121 rooms. Presently, his sons Sunil and Rajan are in charge of marketing and operations respectively.

In addition to being the proponent of Visit Nepal Year '98, Karna Sakya has also been the past president of the Nepal Nature Conservation Society and Nepal Heritage Society. His contributions have added several new dimensions to Nepal's tourism sector. Moreover, he has authored several books, articles and reports on wildlife, nature and tourism.
