Hotel Diplomat is located just a few blocks off Jyatha Chowk while heading towards Thamel. The location is tolerably quiet and only a few minutes' walk from downtown Thamel. There are several restaurants, money exchanges, banks and curio shops nearby.

You will have no difficulty hiring a taxi at Tribhuvan International Airport, which normally costs about 8 to 10 US Dollars to take you to the hotel.
Ask your taxi-driver to take you to Thamel Chowk, also known as the Thamel - Jyatha junction. From this junction turn left and drive south for about 200 metres, and keep looking for the hotel's signboard on the left side of the street. It is at a distance of about 20 metres before reaching Jyatha Chowk (while arriving from Thamel Chowk).
There are several small shops and offices on the ground floor of the building. You will find the hotel reception at the end of the corridor.
If you are visiting Kathmandu for the first time, the traffic rules can be a big nuisance, especially in Thamel area, where there are many one-way traffic roads, not always easily noticed. Therefore, you are advised to request for your arrival transfer when you make your booking. The hotel will make necessary arrangements to meet you at the airport for a nominal service charge.
